The new mattress and boxspring arrived at 11am

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Mattressmaker called at 10:30am and told me they were 30 minutes away. I was still cleaning up the bedroom(war zone) and still had more to go. But I suspect that the owner and his helper have seen it all!
Once the new mattress was in place I went shopping to get sheets that would fit a 14+ inch mattress. With the furniture moving we did, we realized the room was bigger than we remembered. So over the next few days we will be rearranging the room and adding a wing chair from the living room to give us a sitting area. I think because we only sleep in our bedroom, we don’t keep it as clean as we are sleeping when we are in there.

Time to feed the dogs!

Working away from home

Friday, July 16th, 2010

During the summer I work about 4 hours
away from home. It is a 24/7 type of job. My days off are more on the idea of a 36-48 hour leave as I only go home 3 times in 2 months. It is odd but to me this job is a vacation. I guess it’s because I only have one job when I am here and not 3 as when I am home. The weather has been mostly sunny this summer with much needed rain in between! Tally-Ho!

The first “Lectshop” was a Success!

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

Our quilt show is over and was a great success!  Our last guild meeting(till September) was last night and I did my First “Lectshop” for a captive audience! It was awesome! I think that small guilds and guilds with limited funds will enjoy this format!

Just to recap what a “Lectshop” is: I give a 10-20 minute lecture on a subject related to the techniques I plan to do in the mini workshop. Then I begin my demonstration which last from 5-20 minutes. After that I invite the members to come up close and observe or participate!

I am willing to do this for small guilds, large guilds, quilt shows and quilting bees. For smaller guilds and quilting bees I will work on a per person basis along with a mileage fee for those groups that are within 1 to 2 hrs of my own home. For those who are farther away I am willing to stay in a quilt members house (especially if they are dog people) overnight after the meeting before heading back to New Hampshire.

Also any program person who is reading this, I am willing to be shared by more than one guild in the same week. Again all I need is a clean bed and a meal or 2.

Now time for some cleaning and cooking as my quilting bee is coming over tomorrow evening!

PS: Pictures of the fabric we made during the workshop will be posted soon!
