Functional Art and More
To me Functional art is:
A work that is produced by a design developed to fill a certain use.
A bed quilt is functional art, so is a screen, table runner, wall hanging, room divider or wearable art. But why is it art? Art is defined as" The conscious use of skill and creative imagination especially in the production of aesthetic objects; also:works so produced"(Merriam Webster)
It is art because humans are not one-dimensional beings. We need color, movement and textures in our world. Especially as we become more entrenched in technology and look outside less and less. The contents of these albums are my contribution to make art a part of our daily lives, not just when we visit a museum or gallery.
