Urban Jungle
This piece started with a elephant batik panel and some jungle material. It was a commissioned piece to be given as a 50th wedding anniversary present. I started to play with curved piecing and then cut up the curved blocks into small squares and placed them up on a black background as a type of grid. I found that with raw edges on the black fabric gave it just the right look and the inspiration to cut through the quilt to add the city fabric, was from my husband. The quilt was already quilted when I took my pinking cutter and cut through the 3 layers. It was terrifying but in the end it was very satisfying.
